Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) was founded as a 501(c) (3) non-profit medical institution in 2005. PNWU's mission is to educate and train health care professionals emphasizing service among rural and medically underserved communities throughout the Northwest. With a vision of revolutionizing community health, PNWU strives to enhance and maintain an inclusive and welcoming environment which seeks contributions from those of diverse backgrounds who will represent and advocate for the communities we serve. Currently, the university offers a Doctoral degree in Osteopathic Medicine, a Master of Arts in Medical Sciences degree, and boasts a total enrollment of 580 medical and graduate students. Collaborations with Washington State University, including satellite programs in pharmacy and nursing, add an additional 120 health professions students to the PNWU campus. Future growth is well underway, with ongoing development of a School of Physical Therapy and a School of Occupational Therapy.
Located in Yakima, Washington, a city of approximately 95,000 people, PNWU's position on the eastern slopes of the Cascade Mountains provides access to the Yakima Valley's renowned agricultural bounty and world-class outdoor recreation opportunities. General Summary:
Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) invites applications for the Founding Dean of the proposed School of Dental Medicine (SDM).
The dean of the proposed School of Dental Medicine at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences is the lead academic, administrative, and fiscal officer of the School. The dean provides executive leadership for the school and reports to the provost. It is the duty of the dean to enhance the academic program as it relates to PNWU and SDM missions. The dean is to make recommendations to the provost relating to academic policies of the SDM and the maintenance of coordination among University divisions, including fostering and promoting organizational effectiveness as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion.
