Marymount seeks an entrepreneurial and accomplished leader who will build on the existing momentum of the College and forge new opportunities to advance the future-oriented goals of the College and the University.

Marymount is Carnegie classified as a doctoral/professional university offering bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees in a wide range of disciplines and serving nearly 4,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Marymount is located just minutes from Washington D.C. The University was founded in 1950 by the Religious of the Sacred Heart of Mary. Now nationally ranked, a Marymount education is "grounded in the liberal arts, promotes career preparation, and provides opportunities for personal and professional growth." The College of Health and Education is made up of four schools: The School of Health Sciences, the Malek School of Nursing Professions, the School of Counseling, and the School of Education. The College offers undergraduate degrees in Education, Health Sciences, and Nursing. At the graduate level, it offers degrees in Counseling, Education, Public Health Education and Promotion, Nursing, and Physical Therapy. Students benefit from clinical experiences and internship placements in some of the national capital area's leading educational and health care organizations as well as throughout the country and the world.

The College of Health and Education boasts state-of-the-art facilities, encompassing numerous teaching and research labs including an acute care nursing simulation lab. The next Dean of the College of Health and Education will join Marymount at a time of positive momentum on all fronts. The Dean of the College of Health and Education serves as the senior academic administrator of the College and reports to the Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs. The Dean is responsible for the effective leadership, administrative oversight, resource allocation, and management related to the delivery of programs and the oversight of scholarly activities and service. The Dean will play a significant role in fundraising and resource development for the College in partnership with the University's advancement team. The Dean works closely with the School Directors, faculty, and staff to deliver and support a student-centered experience that fosters engaged learning, rigorous research and scholarship, creative thinking, and community collaboration across the various Schools and programs at the College, as well with the other colleges at Marymount. The Dean will maintain a keen eye on College enrollment and will facilitate program growth and design, advance research activity of the faculty and students, as well as ensure the current offerings remain strong and competitive. The Dean will be deeply committed to diversity, equity, inclusion and access and will approach matters through this lens.

Marymount seeks an accomplished academic leader who will inspire the College of Health and Education's students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community partners. The next Dean will possess a distinguished academic record that commands the respect of the scholarly community and merits appointment as a tenured full professor. The Dean will bring a highly relational approach, outstanding communication skills, authenticity, self-confidence balanced with humility, integrity of the highest order, a strong work ethic, a good sense of humor, and a clear understanding of the modern university to the work.

The new Dean will begin in the role as early as May and ideally no later than July 1, 2023.

The search committee will begin reviewing candidates immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
