Job Description: Data Engineer - Enterprise Architecture

  • Enterprise Architecture Team plays a central role in Marsh McLennan's Corporate Data Strategy, designing and implementing unified processes and data analytics capabilities.
  • Become agent of change; helping to bring to life our modern Open Data Architecture which is based on Data Lakehouse.
  • Work closely with technical and business colleagues to build on existing achievements, maturing the Data Engineering solutions that underpin the MMC Data Strategy.
  • Self-service data access is core to the MMC Data Strategy. You will be critical to enabling the ability for developers and business users to seamlessly access, combine and transform datasets - both physical and metadata - needed for last-mile analysis and reporting.

You will be responsible for:
  • Designing and implementing robust data pipelines that seamlessly combine disparate raw data sources - cloud and on-prem - into a modern Lakehouse.
  • Work closely with data analysts/data scientist, architects and engineers to implement scalable and performant ELT pipelines that result in reliable, single source of truth (virtual) datasets and BI Visualizations.
  • Develop reusable data strategy assets such as prototypes, documentation and code bases that can help grow the Data Engineering practice.
  • Expand the integration of our Data Discovery, Cataloging, Classification and Analytics stack into comprehensive and efficient data pipelines.
  • Lead and assist enterprise-wide Data Stakeholders on Data Governance processes.
  • Leverage research and previous experience to quickly deliver on highly complex data projects, ensuring the team is up-to-date and continuously exploring.
We would like you to have

Technical Skills

  • Ability to effortlessly build rapport and maintain close working relationship with technical colleagues
  • 5+ years' experience with SQL, Python, Java. Expert understanding of SQL and REST API Methods a MUST
  • Good understanding of Front/Backend development. 1+ yr experience with NodeJS.
  • Demonstrable understanding of Git Version Control, UNIX/Shell Scripting, DevOps/CICD.
  • Demonstrable experience with applications testing, deployment and monitoring
  • Understanding of Containerization and Orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Demonstrable experience with BI tools (e.g. Qlik, PowerBI, Tableau, SSRS)
What makes you stand out:
  • Experience implementing advanced data analytics solutions underpinned by a Data Lakehouse (e.g. Dremio, Databricks, Synapse)
  • Exposure to Informatica Product suite (e.g. EDC, AXON, Developer Client)
  • Exposure to Workflow and Decision automation (e.g. Camunda, Airflow)
  • Exposure to Secrets Management (e.g. Vault) and Data Classification (e.g. BigID)
  • Exposure to Agile Working Methodologies
  • GitHub Actions/Jenkins a plus
  • Machine Learning/AI, Feature Engineering
