Facebook seeks a forward-thinking, engineer with leadership skills to join our Data Center Operations team reporting to the Capacity Manager. The person should enjoy working in a fast-paced, technical environment, where adaptability and flexibility is key to their success. Having experience in both technical and team leadership to deliver solutions to meet business needs are core competencies of this individual. The Capacity Team is responsible for how we plan, add, change and remove computing capacity to and from our data center fleet. This person will lead this team in local execution of the planning and execution elements of Capacity. Strong planning and project management experience is required as this team will manage and execute multiple, complex infrastructure projects within the data center in parallel, including capacity planning, installations, retrofits, hardware retirement, data eradication and service migrations. This person should also have leadership experience and strong communication skills.
  • Accountable for leading a Data Center Capacity Team responsible for the IT capacity life cycle.
  • Responsible for managing and delivery of capacity from the data center site and for ensuring operational delivery through partnership with both remote and local peer organizations to support ongoing business growth.
  • Track issues, analyze data looking for trends and reporting out globally.
  • Collaborating globally to develop and implement process improvements in data center operations.
  • Coaching, mentoring and developing engineers and technicians such that they can run daily operations with minimal supervision.
  • Create and drive a culture of safety, ownership, innovation, collaboration and accountability.
  • Be forward thinking by understanding data center growth, identifying scaling issues before they occur and contributing to solutions.
  • Support the team in the generation of specifications, and ideas for process and software automation improvements that facilitate the deployment and retirement of server hardware at scale.
  • Experience with leading people, virtual teams or initiatives.
  • Proven track record of setting goals, tracking progress and growing individuals.
  • Experience with Linux and hardware systems support in an Internet operations environment.
  • BS or BA in a technical field or commensurate experience.
  • Experience operating in large technical environments.
  • Solid understanding of core components of data center infrastructure.
  • Substantial experience of building and maintaining cross-functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders and partners.
  • Communication experience.
  • Time, resource and project management experience.
