Reporting to the Senior Director for Strategic Planning & Assessment, but also responsible for supporting the work of the Associate Director of Institutional Research and the Assistant Director of Assessment, the Data Analyst for Survey and Assessment will be energetic and committed to communicating information grounded in quality data analysis to a wide audience in the language they understand - visual representations, tables, or written reporting. Experience working in a fast-paced environment and being flexible to changing priorities are required. A self-starting, resourceful, early-career data scientist or statistician with analytical skills, attention to detail, problem-solving and decision-making abilities is the ideal candidate.

Responsibilities


The person in this position will assist in providing data extraction, statistical analysis, data visualization and communication support for survey and assessment work conducted and supported by Institutional Research and Decision Support. This is a full-time position, with the following responsibilities:


● Extract, merge, and manipulate very large datasets from multiple sources


● Using SQL, create queries of student data from appropriate enterprise student information systems


● Working fluently and independently in Excel and Google suite, perform data quality control, join data sets with vlookup, and develop reports with pivot tables


● Create Tableau workbooks, dashboards, and summary tables (suitable for PowerPoint, Adobe PDF, and communications) to support survey and assessment results


● Produce clear written reports and guides


● Use creative problem-solving, advanced data science, and statistical analysis to develop solutions that match unique project needs


● Provide strategic and tactical, data-based tools and recommendations to senior leadership


● Ability to automate data analyses, visualizations, and reporting to be repeatable across a large number of programs (using a combination of SQL, Tableau, Power BI, Python, or some other scripting language) a plus.

● Perform other work-related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

● Certificate or degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics or related quantitative field

● Proven sophisticated Microsoft Excel and/or Google Suite Skills

● Experience with SQL, Tableau, SPSS, R, Python, and related, or the desire to learn

● Ability to work independently and multi-task effectively

● Excellent verbal, written, and data visualization communication skills

● High level of consistency and attention to detail

●Ability to adhere to University COVID-19 policy and requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Analytics or related quantitative field

● Experience with Qualtrics, Starfish, Banner, Workday or similar data sources
