Position Summary:

Sonic Industries, Inc. is a leading aerospace fastener company. Sargent Aerospace & Defense is a premier global supplier of custom engineered, precision products to the aerospace and defense industries. Sargent / Sonic have an immediate opening for Customer Service Specialist in our Torrance location. Under the direction of the Department Manager/Supervisor, your primary responsibilities will be in Inside Sales responsible for growing the business with your assigned accounts in addition to providing exceptional customer service and coordinating customer requirements for quotes and purchase orders.

Key Position Responsibilities:

The duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Customer Service, communications and relationship management for assigned accounts.
  • Contract management, administration, and compliance including negotiation and management of scope of work, terms, and conditions, LTA’s, non-disclosure agreements, ongoing compliance, changes, etc. This includes FAR, DFAR, NNPI, ITAR ISO, SOX and portal systems.
  • Order acknowledgment, processing modifications, and maintenance (contract files).
  • Support operations and other departments as necessary to support customer requirements.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage proposals/quotations including qualifying opportunities, strategy development, market/target pricing, cost estimating, pricing strategy, management approvals, submittals, follow-ups, and closing.
  • Provide booking forecasts, histories, and analyses
  • Troubleshooting and follow up on late customer deliveries including problem solving and reporting on recovery plans (milestone charts, etc.).
  • Leadership ability of internal teams for resolution of customer issues, problem solving, and process improvements.
  • Support and pursue payment of outstanding invoices from customers.
  • Coordinate product returns, repairs, and warranty claims.
  • Track/report customer & program news.
  • Provide weekly status reports including accomplishments, issues, opportunities, cost, milestones, and risk.
  • Conduct customer visits and meetings.


Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience, training, and demonstrated performance in the following areas:


o 1-2 years’ experience in the Aerospace and Defense industry is a plus.

o Contract management, administration, and compliance experience including negotiations experience.

o Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

o Microsoft Office skills, proficient in Excel..

o Aptitude for learning and managing multiple tasks; critical thinking and decision making

o Strong multi-tasking skills to work on multiple accounts.

o Familiarity with and proficiency in the following systems: BOOTs, FLT, SCOREs, BEST

o Strong ability to organize and manage time, planning and priorities.

o Occasional travel if required (5%).

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelors in Business, Engineering, or related Aerospace degree.

1-2 years’ experience in the Aerospace and Defense fastener industry.

Proficiency in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Project Management skills/experience.

ITAR Requirement:
  • Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the employee must be a U.S. Person

(U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident) or a Foreign Person for whom a license is obtained.

Quality Requirement:
  • Employees will participate as required in understanding, implementing and maintaining the Company

Quality Policy in accordance with AS-9100C and/or ISO-9001:2009 requirements.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

The position may be expected to visit current and potential customers, including travel to customers and distributors. This is primarily a sedentary office position with employees working in a controlled office environment. The employee answers telephone calls and occasionally bends, reaches, and pushes and pulls file drawers to file records and reports. Employee moves throughout the building to collect, deliver, and copy documents. The position uses a computer terminal to access, input, and retrieve data. Finger dexterity may be required to operate typewriter, computer keyboard, and calculator.
