UCCS is currently seeking applications for a temporary 75% time Course Materials Lead in the Bookstore. Over 70% of the bookstore's sales volume is from course materials, making it critical to the success of the bookstore. Additionally, providing textbooks and course materials to UCCS students directly supports the mission of the university by furthering the institution's vision of advancing knowledge, making course materials an indispensable component of the student experience. Providing textbooks and course materials on time, in the right quantities, at a reasonable price, and at an acceptable margin is critical to the bookstore's success. This requires strategic planning and execution of early book adoptions, dynamic and early sourcing/buying for the best costs, accurate buyback to avoid unnecessary re-buys and freight expense, timely vendor returns for rebates and remuneration, providing lower cost rental options, and competitive market pricing. This position plays a key role in assisting the Faculty Liaison, Course Materials Buyer, and Director in achieving these objectives.

Job Duties:

Document Processing

Process invoices, credit memos, research billing variances, update course materials pricing, maintain NetSuite (process item and adoption uploads) collaborate with and assist Faculty Liaison, Course Materials Buyer and Director. Assist with Special Account management. This position assists with the Day One Access program ensuring pricing complies with HEOA requirements, assists with pricing negotiation, assists with OER materials compilation and reporting, and customer support.

Pricing

This position assists with entering pricing, checking pricing on invoices and credits, and calling vendors on pricing.

Day One Access

In collaboration with the Course Materials Buyer and Faculty Liaison, assist with course set up in Verba/Vitalsource and NetSuite.

Online Operations

Assist the Operations Manager with training, oversight, and operations of the online department students. Coordinate text processes and operations of the department. Ensure the online order backorder list is maintained, updated, and effectively communicate to team notes that need to be shared with customers. Correct inventory errors that occur in relation to online operations.

Store Operations

May have store opening and closing duties. Closing duties may include securing cash at the end of the day, processing appropriate paperwork, and securing of physical inventory through careful closing procedures.

Returns

This position assists with overstock textbook returns, ensuring they are processed in a timely manner, ensure credits are received and applied to publisher account so that buying decisions for each term can utilize vendor credits in a timely and efficient manner. This position will also assist with rental returns so they are processed in a timely manner to include collecting on delinquent accounts.

Work Location: On-site

This position has been determined to be eligible for overtime (non-exempt) under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

This is a temporary position expected to last 6 months.

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $16.00 - $18.00 per hour.

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

This position is dependent on the availability of auxiliary revenues funding.

Tentative Search Timeline:
    Priority will be given to applications submitted by 5 pm MST February 3, 2022. However, this posting will remain open until filled. The potential dates for interviews with the supervisor and appointing authority will be the week of February 6, 2023. The potential employee start date is February 10, 2023.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
    3 months or more of bookstore experience, either as a student or professional

Preferred Qualifications:
    Two years university bookstore buyer experience Experience at the UCCS bookstore

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Employee is occasionally required to have long periods of sitting, moderate bending, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and feeling. Employee must also have near and far acuity, depth perception, accommodation, color vision and normal field of vision. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and will frequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
