The Cost Estimator reviews customer requests and/or drawings to determine production feasibility. Perform approximately 400-500 new estimates per month. Develop and establish accurate standard routings, feedstock, and tooling requirements to be used in the scheduling, costing and manufacturing of SGL products. The standard costs are issued for cost/price market analysis, production variance analysis and to aid in the initial pricing of new products. SAP is used exclusively in the development of cost estimates. Confirmed orders require parts to be costed and released using the SAP software system. Change of methods (routers/process changes and improvements) need to be maintained in SAP. Material Master accuracy must be maintained. This position builds and maintains parts for internal processes such as fixturing and furnaces. Calculates yields based on material constraints.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Prompt standard cost development/maintenance
  • Interface with Customer Service, Sales Managers and Product Managers
  • Review and analyze blueprint and manufacturing issues with manufacturing personnel
  • Analysis of manufacturing variances
  • Key partner in determination of machining capabilities, capacities, utilization
  • Create and maintain SAP data, Router, BOM, Material Masters (50,000 parts)
  • Ownership and maintenance of Change of Methods, SAP updates and communication of changes
  • Key interface with product engineering to assure drawing revisions are updated
  • Audits processes to assure routings are performed as planned

Your Profile:
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Minimum 5 years of manufacturing experience
  • Ability to read blueprints with a strong understand of GD&T
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient in SAP and system functionality
  • Experience working with CAD software
  • Broad product knowledge in all MPP NA, BU GS product lines
