ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist in the planning and implementation of lean manufacturing strategies to achieve overarching global business strategy.
  • Apply lean manufacturing concepts in manufacturing and transactional process settings.
  • Lead/coordinate lean manufacturing events/activities (i.e., kaizen/continuous improvement, value stream mapping, statistical problem solving, etc.) as required including the planning of events and resources, evaluating candidates and recruiting teams, training and leading teams, achieving event objectives and documenting performance.
  • Mentor and coach less experienced lean practitioners and participants in their continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with suppliers and customers to spread lean principles through the entire value chain.
  • Establish appropriate metrics and controls to facilitate easy maintenance and sustainment of improvements.
  • Assist in the planning, launching and on-going activities related to Continuous Improvement for all value streams.
  • Deliver lean manufacturing related training to Garlock/EnPro employees.
COMPETENCIES:
  • Ability to develop value stream maps and conduct kaizen events. Ability to coach, train others to perform the same.
  • Ability to interact with and lead small teams of diverse personalities while remaining tactful, professional, and flexible and effectively instruct and coach adult learners.
  • Ability to work with large volumes of process data and with statistical methods.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and with our supplier/customer network.
  • Excellent organization and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work under extreme confidentiality as related to sensitive information.
  • Open minded, willingness to accept/drive change, and desire to become a servant leader.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Degree in business administration, process management, operations or 5 years equivalent experience
  • A sharp eye for identifying weak points in processes and organizational structure
  • Dynamic thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Must be able to lead and positively influence others to achieve results that are in the best interest of the business
  • Confidence in your abilities to lead organizational change at all levels
  • Must be able to organize by setting priorities, monitor progress toward goals, and track details, data, information and activities
  • Knowledge of lean tools preferred
  • Six Sigma or Kaizen experience and knowledge of lean tools is preferred. Certifications also preferred but not required.
