The Content Manager specializes in content generation and project management for Shepherd Center publications and communication pieces, specifically Spinal Column, Shepherd Center's 40-page quarterly magazine. The Content Manager must be an excellent interviewer and writer with a solid news sense. The Content Manager must also be resourceful and willing to generate content ideas while occasionally managing freelance writers and photographers. The Content Manager must be a skillful collaborator and be willing to work across all services lines at Shepherd Center.

  • Provide strategic input and manages the development of content for Spinal Column, as well as Shepherd Center's online newsroom, news.shepherd.org, social media and other communication channels.
  • Manage planning, design, production and distribution of a quarterly magazine and other communication pieces to include writing, coordination of freelance writers, photographers, graphic designers and printers.
  • Manage some design/redesign and production of brochures and other collateral materials for Shepherd Center.
Required Minimum Education
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, marketing or communications.
Required Minimum Certification
  • No minimum certifications.
Required Minimum Experience
  • Minimum four years of experience in public relations, editorial, marketing or related field.
Required Minimum Skills
  • Excellent feature and news writing and editing skills and knowledge of AP-style required.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work effectively under deadlines.
  • Savvy with marketing communication and design technologies, including Adobe Creative Cloud, content management systems and project management systems.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Healthcare and/or hospital experience is preferred.
  • Proven experience in project management/coordination of producing printed and online communications materials required, with experience using a project management system preferred.
