Communication Consultant/Project Manager

What can you expect?

  • As a Communication Consultant/Project Manager, you will work independently and on teams on client-facing communication engagements across industries
  • You will develop effective communication strategies and lead discussions with clients and project teams
  • You will serve as secondary client contact on larger projects (or primary client contact on smaller projects) and will be responsible for the implementation of communication strategies and project management/production coordination of client deliverables
  • You will be responsible for managing project budgets, preparing monthly invoice details, etc.

We will count on you to:
  • Assist in design and development of strategies to drive the successful adoption of change within a business, as well as deliverables to drive stakeholder engagement, leadership alignment, learning/training, communications and business readiness
  • Be responsible for editorial review of communications and content management
  • Interact independently with clients on a regular basis by answering questions and providing requested materials over the phone, via e-mail, or by attending client meetings
  • Coordinate across workstreams to proactively identify dependencies, gaps, and risks in executing the communication strategies and work plans
  • Coordinate reviews of communication materials (compliance, technical, editorial, client, vendor, etc.) and incorporate edits as appropriate
  • Leverage work to other resources (writers, graphic designers, analysts/associates, etc.) and provide guidance for accomplishing work and meeting performance standards
  • Support business development activities, including assisting in proposal development, finalist meeting presentations, scoping projects, drafting statements of work, etc.
  • Build relationships with consultants in other Mercer practices/businesses and with clients and demonstrate a solid understanding of each client's project requirements and needs

What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in English, business, communication, journalism, human resources, or related field of study
  • A minimum of 7 years' extensive experience writing corporate communications, including compensation, benefits, and policies and/or applicable paralegal experience; or 5+ years' of HR consulting experience with a professional services firm
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including public speaking skills
  • Advanced editing, proofreading, and composition skills; proven technical and persuasive writing skills
  • Critical thinker who can anticipate team/client needs and take initiative to present ideas, ask the right questions, and deliver the highest quality work
  • Ability to operate well in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented individual with excellent organizational and project management skills
  • Strong command of MS Word and PowerPoint
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks with concurrent deadlines
  • Experience managing projects, including timeline and budget

The applicable base salary range for this role is $79,200 to $158,400.

The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
