Schedule: Monday through Thursday, including holidays.

Hours: Monday through Thursday 5:00 am until 3:00 pm

Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.

  • Candidates must reside within the United States.
  • Candidates with agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.

Starting Wage: $16.00

Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.

Summary:
  • Assisting with the selection and movement of birds at approximately 4-6 weeks of age based on conformation, physical attributes, and family data provided by the tablet. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Transfers and sexes birds. (25%)
  • Assembles equipment. (25%)
  • Bird movement from one house to the next or within houses. (25%)
  • Stacks and moves coops of birds. (15%)
  • Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: assists with identifying gender, catching, scanning wing band number, and audit market birds for wing bands; assists in set-up for selection by loading empty coops into house, placing catch frames in pens for easier bird access, hanging lights for better visual, set-up of scales and scanner, making coop labels, placing coops in pens and running needed cords; properly euthanizes weak, ill and injured birds in accordance with company policy. (10%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements:

  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move, using two team members, up to 50 pounds to move items such as bird coops, tables and tools. May be required to occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds such as stacks of bird coops. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand the majority of the shift on multiple floor surfaces (concrete floor, shavings, etc.); walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climbing or stepping over; balance; stoop/bend repeatedly; talk and hear; drive a vehicle or back a trailer within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include: close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety goggles and/or glasses, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs will be used as needed.
  • Chemicals commonly used: Disinfectants such as Synergize, Virocid, Lysol, Bleach, Clorox Wipes, etc.
  • Safety: Team member is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. Team member is expected to identify, address, and mitigate safety related risks.
