JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: CMM Metrology Technician

Position: Full Time / Non-Exempt

Location: Riverside, CA

Manager: Ricardo Garcia

Reports to: Quality Manager

SUMMARY OF ROLE

The purpose of this role is to primarily perform inspection equipment programming, and perform the testing associated with that equipment, including but not limited to CMM's, Quality (software), and Vision Systems. The role will be highly involved in the implementation of new CMM fixturing, new measurement devices, and performing Gauge R&R on the new equipment, up to and including product validations. Additionally, the role includes performing inspections of incoming materials, the first piece, in-process, and finished goods; while maintaining appropriate records to comply with company and customer documentation required. Performing tasks while understanding and following ISO13485:2016 and cGMP policies and procedures.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collect parts from each molding machine and do a complete visual inspection of the product.
  • Create labels that identify products and enter counts into the IQMS computer system.
  • Maintain data accuracy to provide accurate inventory levels.
  • Maintains cleanliness for work areas.
  • Comply with ISO procedures and policies.
  • Comply with all safety procedures and policies.
  • Programming and operation of Zeiss CMM or Equivalent, and OGP probe and vision CMM equipment with minimal supervision
  • Create and documents programs while maintaining revision tracking and control
  • When required, complete Cpk studies for R&D, new, transfer and engineering change projects. Working closely with Program Manager and Quality Manager to determine root cause and resolve low Cpk results
  • When required, complete validation gauge R&R studies and/or develop testing/inspection methods per customer-specific requirements
  • Working with a team in the designing of fixtures, jigs, and other holding items for part inspection
  • Conduct calibration for internal measuring tools

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent and/or technical degree
  • 1-3 Years of experience in similar roles within a manufacturing company (Plastics Industry) preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Computer knowledge is required. IQMS and Mini Tab system experience a plus
  • Ability to work well with others
  • Must be accurate and self-paced
  • Must be familiar with visual inspection and packaging requirements
  • Proficient in various metrology and measurement techniques
  • Strong organization, teamwork, and time management skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CMM Programming a must
  • OGP Programming a must
  • GD&T training and understanding
  • Experience in the IQ, OQ, PQ Validation process
  • Development and implementation of new fixturing and measurement techniques
