Summary

This position supervises the activities and staff associated with providing substance abuse and treatment programming within a facility. The position serves as an additional layer over oversight to ensure contract compliance and adherence of all programming and services to industry best practices and standards and contractual obligations.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall administration and supervision of all assigned staff and the day-to-day delivery of program services.
  • Works with staff and the appropriate institution staff in the planning, directing and coordinating of all programs related facility activities.
  • Responsible for the direct supervision of staff and the clinical oversight and clinical care of all substance abuse services provided on-site; creates an environment supporting the mission of the program
  • Oversees case management and substance abuse treatment activities by facilitating and co-facilitating didactic educational presentations, group counseling, and individual counseling sessions.
  • Assists in developing, organizing, and conducting programs to provide education for conditions and problems related to drug and alcohol abuse; reviews and selects new instructional materials and programs for use in substance abuse program; provides reports and presentations on substance abuse
  • Assists in the development of quality control procedures to ensure high quality service
  • Provides support for substance abuse program activities including providing activity reports, reviewing the files of subordinates to ensure accurate and timely documentation
  • Develops and updates clinical policies and procedures, treatment manuals, and training curriculum, as needed
  • Conducts or assists in conducting individual and/or group counseling sessions and programs.
  • Monitors participant compliance with alcohol and/or drug counseling when required.
  • Reports all program violations to the appropriate agency or official via the established reporting parameters.
  • Observes and oversees adherence to all policies and procedures; monitors violations and administers disciplinary action
  • Assists in recruiting subordinate staff to include interviewing, hiring, assigning work, training, coaching, and counseling to ensure consistent application of employee guidelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Conducts performance reviews and holds employees accountable for performance of their position duties.
  • Maintains records of absences and vacation schedules for represented staff; monitors and modifies electronic payroll attendance records for employees.
  • Works collaboratively with contracting agencies and facility staff
  • Remain knowledgeable in the programmatic process and be able to define and identify program methodology, counseling modalities, program design needs, the various facets of the program, and the principles and techniques of individual counseling and small and large group counseling.
  • Work collaboratively with the contractor and institution staff.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Minimum Requirements

  • A Master’s Degree or above from an accredited college with a major in medicine, chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and 2 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent.
  • A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and 3 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person.
  • An Associate Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, nursing (with a clinical specialty in administration or the human services) or other related field and 4 years of clinical experience in a health or human service agency which includes 1 year of working directly with the chemically dependent person.
  • Must meet DDAP requirements for a Clinical Supervisor.
  • Have working knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy programs; and
  • Proven experience in supervising a substance abuse program.
  • Preference given to experience within a correctional setting.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish, preferred.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner in both individual and group counseling settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of professionals and have the ability to implement team strategy approaches to work assignments.
  • Ability to work with computers and the necessary software typically used by the department.
