Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Clinical Supervisor, the Clinical Social Worker I/II (CSW I/II) works within the innovative Citywide Community Response program, which utilizes a proactive, client-centered approach to engage historically disengaged clients in the community. 

This program will be responsive to the needs of the Mental Health San Francisco (MHSF) initiative and will be fluid in service delivery based on the needs of the Behavioral Health Services under the Department of Public Health.  This program provides intensive case management to adults who often have severe mental illness and/ or substance use disorder and struggling with homelessness. 

This position will also support with assessments and triage of client needs within the Shelter in Place hotels, Street Crisis Response Team, Psychiatric Emergency Services and from other referral sources. This team will often focus on clients that are struggling to engage in other systems of care and require the increased outreach and intensive support. The CSW I/II will work collaboratively with the behavioral health system of care to develop creative treatment strategies. The individual will provide comprehensive assessment, crisis intervention and 5150 services, case management, individual therapy, substance abuse services, psycho education and linkage to long-term mental health treatment. This position involves much outreach to the community including Shelter in Place hotels, client homes, hospitals, jails as well as to the streets. 

As employees of UCSF and contractors with the City of San Francisco we are essential workers and will continue to support and provide direct service during a natural disaster and or pandemic, this includes deployment.

The job will involve the ability to lift 50 lbs. and climb stairs.

Required Qualifications
CSW I: 
*    Master's degree in social work, psychology or related field from an accredited university and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
*    Able to efficiently prepare written summaries of activities, set priorities and complete reports within required timeframes. Knowledge of medical and/or psychiatric terminology
*    Understanding of mental health issues and sensitivity toward mental health clients
*    Ability to work with clients and program staff from diverse cultural and social class backgrounds
*    Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with others. Ability to work in a high stress, high volume area and work well under pressure and with deadlines. Ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately, and be detailed oriented
*    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
*    Able to work as a team member in a culturally diverse setting
*    Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability
*    A preliminary job offer and assignment may be extended pending successful background clearance

CSW II: In addition to the above,
*    Possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science; and knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position

Note: Physical/health screening required.
Preferred Qualifications
*    2 years of experience working with severely mentally ill adults, the homeless and dual diagnosed populations as gained as part of study or while in school, or internship in a similar institution
*    1 year of experience doing community-based case management and the ability to do outreach including to SRO hotels as gained as part of study or while in school, or internship in a similar institution
*    Case Management experience as gained as part of study or while in school, or internship in a similar institution
*    Prior related UC experience
License/Certification
CSW II:
*    Possession of the requirements necessary for application for licensure as determined by the California Board of Behavioral Science

Department Description
The Division of Citywide Case Management Programs at UCSF/ZSFG, Department of Psychiatry is located at 982 Mission Street, San Francisco. The Division provides comprehensive outpatient treatment to those suffering from severe mental illness, often complicated by homelessness, chronic traumatization, institutionalization, substance use disorder and chronic medical conditions. The mission of the Division is to help clients recover prior functioning, while reducing reliance on acute services, and facilitate transitions from ZSFG psychiatric inpatient, jails, or other institutions to the community. Our programs serve a diverse group of individuals, in terms of social, cultural, and linguistic characteristics; and is structured around interdisciplinary teams. Interventions provided include psychotherapy, crisis intervention, psychotropic medication management, case management, outreach, and employment services.
