The Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology has an exciting opportunity for a Full-Time Clinical Program Coordinator to work on the UHealth Campus. The Clinical Program Coordinator assists in the development, organization, production, and evaluation of a variety of health promotion and educational program offerings for patients in the assigned unit. Moreover, this employee provides general oversight to daily program activities in support of the University's mission. The Clinical Program Coordinator will monitor the efficiency of providers' clinical schedules to meet departmental goals and assists with patient access, and will be point person to monitor and triage schedules, screen procedure schedules a month in advance to screen for patients with unapproved UHealth insurances.

  • Evaluates office production, revises procedures or devises new forms to improve efficiency work flow and priorities.
  • Supervises clinical operation and quality assurance procedures essential for successful operations.
  • Implements projects and procedures to ensure program performance is exceeding expectations.
  • Develop and maintenance of patient triage system for the Digestive Health & Liver
  • Assessing templates to optimize use of schedules to expedite patient appointments.
  • Working with back office administrative staff to coordinate patient care
  • Develop reminder system and wait list to optimize clinic visits and provider schedules
  • Establish a system to review procedures scheduled and identify in advance patients scheduled whose insurances cannot have their procedures at a hospital-based facility.
  • Develop system, and track slots gained through review and reminders.
  • Manages and schedules the following: Clinic/telehealth follow ups and new patient visits
  • Communicates with APPs and providers when needed regarding patient care or concern.
  • Serves as a liaison between the patients, physicians, physician extenders, and nursing team.
  • Identifies and resolves barriers to care and refers patient/family to all clinical services including clinic/procedure/infusion appointments, nutrition services, integrative medicine, or social services and in a timely manner.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
  • Experience working in a medical office, medical background such as medical assistant, or LPN type experience preferred
  • Bilingual (English & Spanish)
  • EPIC EMR experience preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with professional composure.
  • Ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
