Description:
Provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service to various specialized medical equipment, as assigned by the Clinical Engineering Supervisor or (CE) Manager.
Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintenance, repair and servicing of specialized medical equipment/device sterilization and one or more of the following areas: wheelchair, dental, stretcher and bed both motorized and non motorized or as assigned by Clinical Engineering Supervisor or (CE) Manager.
  • Orders parts and supplies, within established departmental guidelines, that are required for the emergency service and repair of all specialized and general medical equipment.
  • Recommend related test equipment and spare equipment parts to the Clinical Engineering Supervisor or (CE) Manager.
  • Responsible for coordinating repairs with vendors and users when needed, this includes follow up paperwork and verification that issues are resolved.
  • Provides on-call service coverage after normal business hours on a rotating basis, as assigned.
  • Meets target objectives and standards for timeliness and quality of Planned Maintenance(PM) schedules and repairs of general and specialized clinical equipment.
  • Attends training session on equipment maintenance in order to keep up-to-date on technological and medical equipment advances.
  • Conducts in-service or coordinates training sessions to SRP/GI/OR/End User on clinical staff on proper use and safety of advanced sterilization equipment.
  • Provides assistance and training to Biomedical Equipment Techs I and II as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Minimum Education:

Required: High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience (OEM) or 3rdparty vendor specific to Sterilizers.

Preferred: Associates Degree

Specify Degree(s): Associates degree in engineering, electronics or medical equipment technology

Minimum Experience:

Required:3-5 years of previous job-related experience.

Details: Expertise typically acquired through 3 years or more of medical equipment service via OEM, Hospital experience or 3rd party vendor.

Licensure/Certifications:

Required:Valid Illinois State Driver's License
