Description

The Clinic Licensed Practical Nurse's (LPN) primary responsibility is to assist physicians in providing the best available patient care and treatment. This includes documenting nursing history and physical assessment for assigned patients by utilizing Electronic Medical Records (EMR); explaining procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding and allay apprehension; removing staples and sutures, dressing wounds, and administering prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and Semmes Murphey's prescription policy. The Clinic LPN also responds to patient calls and portal messages in a timely manner per clinic standard of care, coordinates patient referrals to and from other physician offices, and assists with obtaining prior authorizations for tests, procedures and medications.

REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS

We are searching for a candidate who:

  • has the ability to work with focused concentration, as well as, comprehend and interpret verbal orders and directions
  • can make frequent judgments and respond to routine problems
  • is able to communicate effectively and persuasively in both positive and negative situations
  • can provide excellent customer service while managing difficult or emotional situations
  • maintains a high level of confidentiality and discretion
This position requires a nursing program certificate from an accredited college or university, one (1) year experience as a LPN, and current state nursing license and BLS certification. Experience working in an outpatient clinic setting is preferred.

The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and medical practice software, with knowledge of data entry and coding software. Organizational skills with attention to detail are required.

The employee is required to sit and stand for long periods of time, walk often, and have the capability for occasional overhead and low reaching, bending, kneeling and stooping. Physical strength for equipment needs and patient care activities require the employee to be able to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds. Visual and auditory acuity for timely response and patient care assessment activities is required with the ability to move quickly in response to patient needs. This position involves the use their hands and fingers operate a computer, close vision and frequent telephone use.

Both nonhazardous and hazardous equipment is present. This position involves Category 1 occupational exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids and material.
