A day in the life.

As our Claims Client Services Associate on the Claims team, you'll be responsible for the following:

This position is Exempt and reports to the Assistant Vice President of Claims. The Claims Client Services Associate will develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing value-added claims management services for all lines of business, with a focus on Management Liability. This position supports the Claims Department in delivering complex claims advocacy and strategic guidance to our clients.

The successful candidate will be a service-oriented individual with high personal standards and a hands-on workstyle.

  • Support the Assistant Vice President of Claims in providing clients with complex claims analysis and advocacy across all lines of insurance.
  • Build and maintain collaborative working relationships with clients, business partners, legal counsel, insurance carriers, service teams and leadership.
  • Provide value-added claim management services to maximize the likelihood of favorable client outcomes.
  • Provide appropriate claim strategy and consultation to assist in resolution of large and complex claims.
  • Receive loss information from clients and file timely claim notices with insurance carriers.
  • Review lawsuits and provide appropriate recommendations and guidance as to applicability of coverage provisions across all coverage lines.
  • Maintain events and diary of routine claim milestones, including acknowledged receipt of claims by the carrier, assignment of claim to appropriate claim handler, timely issuance of the carrier's coverage position, and regular updates regarding the progression of the claim.
  • Review and summarize carrier coverage positions, including evaluation of coverage denials and reservations of rights.
  • Provide guidance and strategic consultation to clients with respect to carrier coverage positions.
  • Manage complex negotiations and influence insurers to ensure that claims engagements with clients and insurers result in maximum likelihood of favorable client outcomes.
  • Pursue programs for personal and professional development.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of insurance coverage concepts, including interpretation of policy forms and coverage.

These additional qualifications are a plus, but not required to apply:

  • Bachelor's degree or Paralegal Certificate preferred.
  • Property & Casualty License is a plus but not required.
  • Experience as a litigation paralegal for a minimum of 4 years with a focus in insurance defense, complex litigation and/or insurance coverage law.
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License and have reliable transportation.
  • Must have knowledge of various coverage lines, including Management Liability, Private Client, and Property & Casualty insurance.
  • Must have a general understanding of insurance coverage and interpretation of policy language as it pertains to coverage for claims.
  • Above average telephone personality and ability to deal with people in difficult and emotional situations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with others.
  • Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and implement short- and long-term goals.
  • Strong negotiating skills.
  • Must have experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Work environment & physical demands.
  • Required job duties are essentially sedentary work consisting of occasional walking, standing and lifting and/or carrying 10 lbs. maximum.
  • Extended work hours (10-12 hrs/day) required on occasion due to client meetings and industry functions that begin well before the workday and may extend well into the evening.
  • Work is performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
  • Travel is required to visit clients at their offices or mediation meetings, most often in the Los Angeles Area.

The applicable base salary range for this role is $56,400 to $120,500. The base pay offered will be determined on factors such as experience, skills, training, location, certifications, and education. Decisions will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
