Work Hours/Shift:

You Will Be Responsible For:

• Is knowledgeable of and respectful of various faith traditions and able to support individuals in their chosen faith tradition.
• Provide spiritual support for all administrative and clinical initiatives in the organization.
• Creates an open and safe relationship in providing support of associate or departmental needs

• Is engaged in making suggestions for improvement resulting from observation, measurement, and best practice research
• Identifies and engages in mission integration initiatives, for example: Grief recovery, Marriage family, Spiritual Ambassadors, Creation Health, Mission Service
• Performs/facilitates ecclesiastical functions and spiritual practices as requested by patients, families, and associates.
• Provide spiritual support to patients, families, associates, physicians, and others in a timely and professional manner.
• Participates in the development and application of advance directives, palliative care and other ethical decisions.
• Provide limited pastoral counseling support to associates, referring to EAP when complicated or extended needs arise.
• Provide crisis intervention support for associate experiencing emotional trauma due to adverse outcomes.
• Prompt and regular attendance at departmental staff gatherings, chapel services and special events
• Engages in continuing education annually and completion of CBL's in a timely manner.
• Provides mentoring and leadership to volunteer chaplains
• Is conversant with current issues in ethics, palliative care, Advance Directive and end of life.
• Uses departmental resources effectively
• Observes policies and procedures.

Qualifications

What You Will Need:

• Bachelor's Degree Required; Masters Degree Preferred
• No Previous Experience Required; 2-5 years of experience preferred
• Ordained/Commissioned/Licensed or working towards
• Ecclesiastically Endorsed or working towards
• Member of Professional Organization or working towards

Job Summary:

The Chaplain will provide spiritual/emotional support to patients, families, associates, physicians and other community visitors of our hospital and clinics. Strives to create an environment of inspiration, encouragement and support for all who access the services of our work through ministry activities and encounters in worship and committee. Provide in-services, seminars and/or workshops for associates and community in various areas of need. Actively support Mission integration through initiatives such as Spiritual Ambassadors and Creation Health within the organization and in the community. Work to support the Adventist Christian identity of our work, which is the foundation of this ministry.
