Family Science & Social Work: Department Chair and Associate or Full Professor to be the academic and administrative leader of the department. The Department of Family Science and Social Work is seeking a Chair committed to building a culture of excellence and collaboration through consultative decision-making. The Chair is expected to foster exemplary teaching, research, and creativity while promoting diversity, global awareness, and social responsibility throughout family science and social work curricula. Primary department budget responsibilities reside with the Chair. Other duties include mentoring, development and evaluation for promotion and tenure of faculty; recruiting and retaining a culturally diverse student body; building cutting edge partnerships designed to achieve professional impact; developing and expanding on-line and hybrid course offerings; overseeing internal program assessments and external assessments through the Council on Social Work Education, the National Council on Family Relations, and the Association of Child Life Professionals; staffing, scheduling, supervising; enhancing the strong undergraduate program; performing alumni outreach; helping to elaborate and implement a vision for the department and the department's future directions; leading the faculty to achieve personal and departmental goals; and recruiting an active, culturally and academically diverse faculty and student body of the highest caliber, skilled in the scholarship of teaching, discovery, application, and integration of knowledge; continuing to teach and perform research duties as appropriate. Position begins Fall 2022.

The Chair is responsible for the planning and administration of a department consisting of 18 faculty, three staff, four graduate assistants, 45 graduate students, and 250 undergraduate students.

Required: Doctoral Degree in Human Development and Family Science, Social Work, or a closely related field from an accredited institution of higher education by date of appointment; possess a Masters of Social Work, demonstrate teaching and scholarship qualifications to merit the rank of associate or full professor; provide evidence of commitment to developing faculty and programs that support engagement with diverse students and community populations; and evidence of high performance in areas of leadership, scholarship, and instructional effectiveness. For appointment at the associate rank, a strong research and publication record, evidence of teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in family science and/or social work and topics related to candidates' research specialties are additionally required. For appointment at the professor rank, a distinguished record of scholarly research, evidence of excellent quality teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels, meaningful service at the department and college, and university level, and professional achievement are additionally required.

Consideration may be given to candidates with evidence of expertise and insight on the changing nature of family science and social work and evidence of creativity and entrepreneurial thinking; commitment to the integration of technology, data-informed decision making, and program assessment; a minimum of two years of post-master's practice experience; commitment to anti-oppressive social work practice and work with linguistically diverse communities and international experience.
