Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) Trainer Tracking Code1043-674Job DescriptionCNA Trainers are responsible for excellent and effective teaching in the classroom, lab and clinical setting. Trainers interact with learners as teacher, advisor and mentor. Major Responsibilities:

• Directs the learning activities of students in classroom, clinical and practicum settings.
• Evaluates the academic, clinical and practicum competencies of students.
• Maintains a cooperative relationship with personnel in agencies utilized for student clinical and practicum experiences.
• Maintains student records of academic, clinical, and practicum achievement. Archives course material and documents related to student performance.
• Submits final evaluations of students clinical and practicum performance to the appropriate leader.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalentMust hold an Illinois license as a Registered Nurse (RN)Have successfully completed a Department-approved evaluator course prior to initial approval. Registered nurses possessing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree or higher are exempt from this requirement.Have two years' experience as a registered professional nurse and one year of experience in one of the following areas:
Teaching theory in an accredited nurse training program;Providing nursing care, including personal care and activities of daily living, to older adults or for chronically ill adults; orOne year of experience in the provision of long term care facility services or direct care

Other Qualifications:

• Proficient computer skills in basic word processing and slideshow creation.
• Familiarity and adaptability to student and information management systems (i.e. Preferably Blackboard)
