Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently searching for a Business Development Director - Government for our Applied Intelligence group based in the US. The Business Development Director will be responsible for identifying and developing new US Government business across federal, state, and local markets. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in selling automation/software solutions to government clients. We are looking for a self-motivated individual with strong connections to government clients and/or government tier 1 contractors will thrive in this environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify, develop, and expand Applied Intelligence Business Group opportunities with government clients and/or tier 1 government contractors.
  • Develop and execute a strategic business plan that includes targeted services and clients.
  • Administer, develop and grow company's business activities and revenue, segments, and channels across the Applied Intelligence business group as it pertains to government
  • Work closely with Wood Resilient Environments government sector growth & development team who has existing government relationships, opportunities, and insight.
  • Plan and implement sales strategic actions in key accounts where cultivating relationships, identifying opportunities and account management skills are critical.
  • Accountable for Client Interaction - maintains contact with decision makers and key business interests in client organizations.
  • Serve as capture manager and/or participate in managing/writing proposals including interface with Wood proposal centers and engagement with tender governance processes.
  • Lead and/or assist in closing sales/executing contract and handover to Operations
  • Attend key conferences and client events to maintain awareness of DOD initiatives and business opportunities, network, and promote the Wood brand
  • A ct as a liaison between client and Wood execution team to ensure client requirements are met and strong CPARS/satisfaction ratings are attained.


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Chemical, Electrical, or Computer Science preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience working in the government sector
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience selling solutions in the government sector
  • Demonstrated success in selling to the target tier 1 contractors and government clients at the mid to senior management level.
  • Background in selling automation solutions including software and services into the government sectors is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate relationships, identify opportunities and account management skills are critical
  • Strong understanding of the engineering contractor industry, the supply chain, and the overall value chain
  • Excellent communication skills and oral delivery in group meetings is essential
