Bradford Woods is Indiana University's Outdoor Center. As a key component of the university family, Bradford Woods seeks to promote and further the mission of the university through the teaching, service, programs, and research Bradford Woods provides. For over 50 years Bradford Woods has been providing recreational, educational, and leadership development opportunities to youth and adults locally, nationally, and globally.

Job Summary

Bradford Woods has multiple anticipated part-time positions in leadership, program implementation, and cabin life open for Summer 2022.
One of them is Lifeguard

  • Supervises swimming activities at the aquatic centre and making sure that safety procedures, guidelines and policies are followed.
  • Warns of unsafe activities and enforcing water safety policies and pool regulations.
  • Provides first aid in the event of injury, rescuing swimmers in danger or distress and administering Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or artificial respiration, if necessary.
  • Assesses conditions for safety and coming up with an action plan for aquatics emergency.
  • Inspects pool equipment, facilities and water to make sure they are usable and safe.
  • Provides free meals and free parking during shifts.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
LICENSES / CERTIFICATES

Required
  • Lifeguard certification.
  • CPR/AED certification.
  • First Aid certification.
SKILLS

Required
  • Ability to effectively communicate and exchange information.

Working Conditions / Demands

This is a physically active position requiring mobility. Ability to move and transfer equipment. Stamina to endure long hours in a position that is both physically and emotionally demanding. Nights will be part of the duties and responsibilities due to our residential capacity.
