Position Summary

As a member of the professional staff, contributes a high level of specialized knowledge and skill in a discipline (e.g., Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations Planning & Support, Sales & Marketing) area to support department and/or function objectives. Generally, works with considerable independence, developing operating plans and related operational processes for own department in alignment with broader business objectives.

Specific Job Summary

As the newly established Head of Data Governance reporting to our VP, Data Privacy (acting as the Chief Privacy Officer), you will build and lead a Data Governance team to work with digital brands, marketing, business, and technology leaders, and subject matter experts, coordinating and driving efforts related to data management and governance.

The Head of Data Governance will be tasked with developing, communicating, and executing the data governance strategy to continually align the use of data with MVW's business objectives. They will oversee the execution of MVW's Data Governance programs, establish data management policies, consult on data governance related issues for new initiatives, products, and services, and partner with the business to provide effective data related education and policy updates.

As a leadership role within the Global Privacy Office, this position will interact with departments globally across all subsidiaries. This includes management to senior leadership levels at corporate and site-based locations.

Expected Contributions

  • Develops operating plans and workable business processes for own department in alignment with function strategy.
  • Manages larger business processes and/or projects, setting priorities and measurable objectives, monitoring and reporting on the process, progress, and results.

Specific Expected Contributions (including duties and responsibilities)
  • Deliver on MVW's aspiration of creating an industry leading data governance function, able to deftly balance business opportunity with strategic risk.
  • Establish and lead the strategy, direction, objectives, and operations for the global Data Governance organization.
  • Examine trends, develop insights, and collaborate on solutions with Digital Brands to strengthen and sustain analytics.
  • Coordinate closely with cross-functional internal teams to design our internal and external narrative regarding policy matters.
  • Identify, review, track current capacity, capability, and target operating model; provide business friendly metrics.
  • Implement industry leading controls and associated procedures across the global enterprise including our SaaS environment / cloud products.
  • Drive effective teamwork, communication, collaboration, and commitment across multiple groups with multiple priorities.
  • Drive data governance culture, specifically influence self-identification and disclosure of control self-assurance gaps.
  • Maintain strong engagement across multiple stakeholders, collaborate with key senior business partners and stay abreast on risk, control agendas.

Candidate Profile

Successful candidates should possess knowledge and experience and demonstrate strong leadership and relationship skills as follows:

Generally, a professional position requiring significant knowledge and experience in one or more disciplines and/or business operations as well as associate and/or organizational management experience. College degree and/or relevant experience generally required.

Specific Candidate Profile (the education, experience, skills, and attributes that are important for this position)

This candidate will have a solid level of knowledge in applying global laws and regulations that impact data governance processes and technology. A baseline understanding of analytics capabilities is needed as a successful candidate should have a background that demonstrates their ability to execute and adapt internal processes that support business analytic goals. Candidate should be able to speak to senior leaders about multiple aspects of Data Governance to include data quality, data stewardship, technology, industry trends, etc. utilizing their familiarity with technologies used by IT, Digital Brands, Marketing, and other key stakeholders.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree required or 3 years privacy experience at the Director level; advanced degree preferred.

Experience
  • 10+ years of experience within Data Governance, Information Technology, Technology Risk Management, Compliance, or Internal Auditing.
  • First-hand understanding of the Data Governance needs of a complex, large-scale B2B/B2C SaaS business, including integrating continuous control monitoring.
  • Ability to distill complex and often ambiguous legal concepts into effective operational solutions.
  • Strong personal, analytical and communications skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate regulations and/or standards into workable and implementable solutions.
  • Proven experience with change management in an international organization.
  • Preferred advanced degree in a related field.
