Position Summary:

The Associate Director of Regional Marketing will be responsible for developing and implementing a Key Customer plan for the Great Lakes Region of the US to position AstraZeneca's Breast Cancer portfolio as the best-in-class to healthcare professionals handling breast cancer patients. As the Associate Director of Regional Marketing, you'll play a pivotal role in channeling our scientific capabilities to make a positive impact on changing patients' lives.

This position will report directly into the Head of Regional Marketing, Breast Cancer and will work in close partnership with cross functional partners including brand marketing, field sales, medical affairs, national accounts, and other functions as well as counterparts from our alliance partners Daiichi Sankyo, and Merck & Co., to play a critical role in ensuring we have a market leadership presence with key breast customers.

Location: The final geography might be flexible to the candidate's location and will cover the Great Lakes Region (Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, N& S Dakota, Nebraska, and parts of Indiana).

Job Description

The Associate Director of Regional Marketing is the lead commercial person responsible for engaging a core group of National and Regional External Scientific Expert (ESEs) customers - leaders in their field of breast cancer. The Associate Director of Regional Marketing will develop and implement a regionally focused marketing and key customer engagement plans in support of commercial and brand objectives. The Associate Director of Regional Marketing will also develop and implement strategic insights gathering activities, including Advisory Board Meetings, at the National, Regional and Local Level. The Associate Director of Regional Marketing will also develop and implement regional marketing activities aligned with and in support of the brand's communication and business objectives.

Key Competencies / Skill Sets and Preferred Requirements:

  • ESE engagement and influence with National/Regional ESEs. Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal communication and interaction skills and apply them in engagements with ESEs, ask tough questions and build strategic advocacy.
  • Oncology Business Acumen and a comprehensive understanding of the delivery of oncology care, including the role of large Payers, GPOs, cancer care delivery in different practice settings, precision medicine, and organized oncology customers.
  • Marketing Acumen experience and capability working with agency/vendor partners on complex projects. An ability to identify regional marketing, and then project lead and implement regional marketing initiatives.
  • Cross-functional collaboration w/CBDs/DSMs, MA/MSLs, NOADs, Brand Marketing.
  • Project management to plan/implement Ad Boards, Reg Marketing Tactics, taking assets through the MLR process, operational plan & budget management.
  • Execution: Demonstrated ability to develop and execute regional marketing initiatives that deliver against brand strategic imperatives in the BSP.
  • Strategic Thinking: Generate strategic insights to inform brand strategic decision-making.

Key accountabilities:
  • Strategic Regional Marketing: Develop, design, and implement Regional Marketing Plans that align with BSP Strategic Imperatives and that influence and shape local brand support. Use input from external thought leaders to help build market leadership and commercial strategies through interactions (1:1s, congresses, consultancies, and advisory board meetings).
  • ESE Customer Engagement: Identify and actively engage a core group of 35-50 National and Regional ESEs, using advanced scientific, communication and business skills that lead to advocacy of the brand.
  • Insights Generation: Generate timely and useful customer insights that inform Brand strategic decision-making and other important medical and marketing adjustments.
  • Business Ethics and Acumen: Compliantly leading multiple program budgets, timelines, processes, and procedures.
  • Internal Collaboration: Collaborate with field sales leadership and AD's and Brand Teams to develop and implement local regional strategies and tactics based on local market opportunities.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of Pharmaceutical or Healthcare industry experience
  • 3+ years of Oncology Experience
  • 50-70% overnight travel including evening and weekend conferences when necessary

Preferred qualifications
  • MBA in relevant field
  • Prior in-line marketing experience or Marketing Agency experience
  • Experience working in agency setting (HCP Marketing)
