The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies (FSI) is Stanford University's interdisciplinary research and teaching institute on international policy and international affairs. FSI is home to more than fifty faculty scholars and hundreds of other researchers and students-undergraduates, graduate and post-doctoral-who share an academic interest in international policy questions and challenges. FSI sponsors research and teaching programs, convenes conferences and seminars and hosts lectures by leading scholars and policymakers to advance understanding of the most pressing international policy challenges facing the world today. FSI also seeks to influence and shape policy by communicating research, data and ideas both in public and private to journalists and policymakers.
Our VPDoR Diversity Journey:
FSI seeks a talented professional to manage the human resources needs for over 400 people. Reporting to the Deputy Director of FSI, the Associate Director for Human Resources draws on expertise in planning, operations, and Stanford policies and procedures to administer the institute's daily administrative work in faculty, staff, postdoc, student employment, and visitor affairs. Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to managing the administrative processes for recruiting and hiring, performance management, salary setting, supplemental pay, leaves, and visiting scholar appointments.
The Associate Director for Human Resources will play a leadership role, managing an administrative team of 2.0 FTE and working closely with administrators throughout FSI's centers and programs. This position will simplify institute processes and procedures and identify gaps in training among administrative staff to better facilitate compliance and make it easier for FSI to achieve its research, teaching, and policy impact goals. In doing so, this position will partner with FSI leadership, the Dean of Research office and other Stanford central offices.

WORK STANDARDS:
The expected pay range for this position is $95,000 to $141,000 per annum.
