Job Description

Reporting to the Senior Director, the Associate Director is responsible for supporting the full range of programs, activities and resources created by and/or in collaboration with WNET's Community Engagement Department. The incumbent will collaborate closely with departmental colleagues to create a culture of impact-driven outreach and engagement programs that are strategically aligned with the Community Engagement Department's mission.

Specific responsibilities include:
• Manages assigned local and national outreach and engagement projects in close collaboration with local PBS stations, external consultants, advisors, and partner organizations to plan and implement grant-funded projects and meet project deliverables.
• Responsible for all deliverables, outcomes, reporting and outreach for assigned projects in accordance with grant proposal and timelines.
• Manages ongoing compliance and fulfillment of deliverables for NYS funding, in close collaboration with NYS Education Department. Manages ongoing collaboration with NYS PTV counterparts in fulfillment of grant responsibilities.
• Provides information for funders and other key stakeholders on departmental programs and resources.
• Partners with WNET production staff, and colleagues throughout WNET, as needed, to plan and implement outreach and engagement projects.
• Provides strategic input, grant-writing, and reporting for development manager on outreach and engagement projects.
• Establishes and maintains a network of strategic local, state, and national partnerships in support of the full range of outreach and engagement projects.
• Serves as WNET representative at national, regional, and local conferences/events.
• Provides project budget planning and oversight in collaboration with internal WNET budget manager.

To be considered, applicants will need superb organizational and interpersonal skills; exceptional writing and presentation/public speaking skills are essential. Additional qualifications include:

• Ten (10) or more years' experience in community engagement, public programs, education or related field;
• Experience with grant proposals and budgets as well as managing a small team;
• Demonstrated skills in creating, editing, and delivering presentations and professional development sessions, and ability to speak comfortably in front of groups;
• Ability to conceptualize, conceive, coordinate, manage, implement, and evaluate large or multiple projects;
• Experience with collaborating with external advisors and colleagues at partner organizations and ability to work with individuals at all levels within the organization;
• Proficiency with Microsoft suite of products - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and TEAMS.

Candidates with experience in non-profit education or outreach at museums, arts organizations, or other cultural organizations are preferred. Some domestic travel and occasional evening and weekend work will be required.

The position may require onsite work at our offices at Worldwide Plaza, 825 Eighth Avenue, New York, NY. Salary ranges are based on benchmarked nonprofit and industry related data provided by an outside consulting firm and are commensurate with skills and experience. The hiring salary range for this position is $82,00.00 - $95,000.00. Internal equity considerations will be reviewed before making a final offer.
