Assistant Professor: The School of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences (SLHS) at San Diego State University (SDSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Speech-Language Pathology.

SLHS is a CAA-accredited program in both audiology and speech-language pathology. Qualifications

Applicants should have Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders, Linguistics, Psychology, Neurosciences or a related field, excellence in teaching, strong research abilities, and a commitment to working in a multi-cultural environment with students from diverse backgrounds. Clinical experience, certification (CCC-SLP), and/or eligibility for state licensure are highly preferred. Primary responsibilities include teaching at the undergraduate and graduate (MA and Ph.D.) levels, supervising theses/dissertations and pursuing a research program in the area of speech, language, communication and/or swallowing disorders. Applicants in all areas of expertise are welcome to apply; we are especially interested in applicants with expertise in speech science and/or complex communication needs including motor speech, phonological acquisition/speech sound disorders, cleft palate, fluency, voice, swallowing, autism, augmentative/alternative communication (AAC), and aural rehabilitation.

If appropriate, the candidate would also be able to participate in our Center in Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience at San Diego State University (established 2013), which involves the School of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences (SLHS), the Department of Psychology and a new neuroimaging center on campus. Salary will be dependent on candidate's qualifications and budget considerations.

We are seeking applicants with demonstrated experience in and/or commitment to teaching and working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and members of underrepresented groups. Candidates must satisfy two or more of the eight Building on Inclusive Excellence (BIE) criteria. Candidates that meet BIE criteria: (a) are committed to engaging in service with underrepresented populations within the discipline, (b) have demonstrated knowledge of barriers for underrepresented students and faculty within the discipline, (c) have experience or have demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students, (d) have experience or have demonstrated commitment to integrating understanding of underrepresented populations and communities into research, (e) have experience in or have demonstrated commitment to extending knowledge of opportunities and challenges in achieving artistic/scholarly success to members of an underrepresented group, (f) have experience in or have demonstrated commitment to research that engages underrepresented communities, (g) have expertise or demonstrated commitment to developing expertise in cross-cultural communication and collaboration, and/or (h) have research interests that contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education.
