Job Description:

Assistant Professor/Associate of Clinical Surgery

The Division of Trauma, Acute Care Surgery, and Surgical Critical Care at the University of Miami, Leonard Miller School of Medicine is seeking a critical care, trauma, or ACS fellowship-trained surgeon to join the Ryder Trauma team at the Assistant or Associate Professor of Clinical Surgery level. The division provides clinical services to include trauma, emergency and elective general surgery, surgical critical care, burns, and surgical nutrition support to patients at Jackson Memorial Hospital/Ryder Trauma Center, Jackson South Medical Center/Ryder Trauma South, and the University of Miami Hospitals and Clinics. Physician-scientist candidates, either with an existing research program or the desire to create a research program, are strongly encouraged to apply. In all cases, the candidate will support the missions of the University of Miami by providing teaching to students, residents, and other learners, and through scholarly work and publication.

The candidate will also contribute to the hemispheric reputation of the University of Miami by participation in national and international surgical associations. In addition to the educational activities of the Daughtry Family Department of Surgery, the division has a robust Panamerican presence and the candidate will be expected to participate in regularly scheduled International Trauma Grand Rounds and other activities of the division as they arise.

The candidate will be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Surgery with added qualifications in Surgical Critical Care (or the equivalent for D.O. candidates), and will be able to obtain a Florida medical license and DEA registration. Certifications in ACLS, ATLS, and PALS are required.

Patient safety is a top priority.
