The Physician Assistant Program at Case Western Reserve University invites applications to fill a junior level faculty position. This is a non-tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor, and 0.8 FTE, 12-month faculty position reporting directly to the Physician Assistant Program Director.

The successful candidate will provide leadership and resources for the PA faculty and students in the development, implementation, maintenance, oversight and evaluation of the PA program with specific role as Remediation Coordinator, managing and optimizing the remediation process, policies and procedures.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Meet with students not achieving program academic/professionalism standards for all program assessments (didactic and clinical) and professional behaviors requiring remediation.
  • Develop, review and approve remediation plans for students not achieving academic/professionalism standards (initial, renewal and completion); revise and provide feedback to student and student's faculty advisor.
  • Oversee and monitor student progress with remediation.
  • Develop and periodically revise remediation policies and procedures for review and approval by the PA faculty
  • Evaluate remediation and related processes on at least an annual basis.
  • Provide an annual remediation report to the program director
  • Serve as a resource on remediation matters to the PA faculty
  • Track remediation by student and cohort on an ongoing basis
  • Serve as Chair of the PA Program Academic Standing and Progress Committee

Additional responsibilities include: teaching (didactic and clinical) with evaluation and outcomes analysis; student advisement, mentoring and the monitoring of student performance; active involvement in the PA program admissions process, active participation in maintaining PA program accreditation; active involvement precepting in PA program community outreach programs; participation in program administrative work; participation in interprofessional education opportunities; scholarship activities; professional service as related to the mission, vision, core values and goals of the PA program; university service including active participation on program, school and university committees. In addition, the individual is expected to maintain clinical practice hours.

Qualifications for this position include graduation from an accredited physician assistant program, minimum of an earned master's degree, proven remediation and/or teaching experience, current NCCPA certification and eligibility for licensure in the State of Ohio. Advanced computer skills required with proficiency in using databases and clinical evaluation software. A minimum of three years current clinical experience and experience in PA education is desirable. Candidate should be committed to working with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students.
