ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION
ADAPTED PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Description: The University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (http://illinois.edu/) and the Department of Kinesiology and Community Health (https://ahs.illinois.edu/kch-home), located in the College of Applied Health Sciences, are searching for an outstanding candidate with a background in adapted physical education, adapted physical activity, or physical education pedagogy with a focus on disability for a nine-month, tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Physical education pedagogy and disability studies are pillars of Kinesiology and fundamental to the examination of children's physical activity. Both the Department and College have strong foci on disability studies across academic units, as well as through the Disability Resources and Education Services (DRES) and Chez Veterans Center. Ideally, the new hire will be able to connect with other growing areas in the Department, including physical education pedagogy, disability studies, and/or public health, as well as with colleagues in the College of Education.

Qualifications: The successful candidate should have a doctoral degree in adapted physical activity, adapted physical education, physical education pedagogy, kinesiology, or a related field. A strong record of academic scholarship that meets qualifications for the rank of Assistant Professor at the University of Illinois is required. Demonstrated excellence in college or university-level teaching is desired. A candidate with strong leadership skills and a desire to work with doctoral students is also preferred. Further, candidates with a background in and motivation to contribute to the physical education pedagogy program are preferred. The Department of Kinesiology & Community Health (KCH, http://kch.illinois.edu): The mission of the Department is to advance and disseminate knowledge related to health, rehabilitation, and human movement using an interdisciplinary approach.
