Directly reports to the North American Financial Controller and does not supervise others.

• Understand the importance of conformance with the environmental policy relevant procedures and the requirements of the EMS (Environmental Management System).

• Understand the potential consequences of deviation from specified operating procedures. Immediately report any accidents and release to the Supervisor.

ISO 9001 QUALITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM/EMPLOYEE REPSONSIBILITY:
Adequately provide resources for all assigned processes and procedures to fulfill requirements. Awareness of expectations is demonstrated in all relevant levels of the organization. Reporting on the operation (audits & inspections) nonconformity and performance of the QMS (business meetings, KPI reviews, etc.)

  • Providing customers with products and services that meet or exceed their expectations. This will be achieved through:
  • Establishment of meaningful and measurable quality objectives that are subject to regular management review
  • Use of a quality management system that is primarily based on prevention rather than detection, and
  • Continued improvement of processes at all levels of the organization

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Direct manufacturing cost (DMC) standards, review weekly variances/yields and reporting results to the Controller and plant managers.
• Provide DMC estimates for new products.
• Standard cost roll and analysis of materials, work center rate and production changes
• Ensure the cycle counts are performed properly and in accordance with the policy.
• Calculate and post any needed raw material inventory adjustments
• Accounting for inventory reserves, manufacturing variance capitalization and full absorption.
• Maintain commitment to compliance including internal audit, external audit, and SOX audit
• In tandem with the Controller, oversee all accounting processes and ensure a smooth, accurate and timely monthly closing process
• Responsible for capital spend reporting to ensure accurate and timely handling of fixed asset creation and capitalization
• Work with operations to review and verify fixed asset inventory.
• Work closely with the AR, AP and other general accounting processes as needed.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget at each plant
• Organize and participate in cross-training and personal development for the accounting department in order to maximize the value of each individual to the organization
• Keep a customer focus by recognizing that accounting is a service function for both the plant and for Polypore.
• Participate on and guidance leadership to the plant leadership team:
  • Mentor and Teacher: Take seriously employee interactions to help maximize their value to the company as well as meet their own personal career goals.
  • Communications: Serve as a key point of communication for plant personnel and local finance team

WORKING CONDITIONS
General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. Lighting and temperature is adequate. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard equipment available. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount to force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Education:

Must have bachelor's degree in accounting or related field of study

Qualifications:
• Must have at least 5 years of accounting experience
• Must have previous accounting experience in manufacturing
• Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
• Experience with standard costing, absorption, and manufacturing variance reporting, required
• SOX Experience with identification of key controls preferred
• Financial statement analysis experience required
• Microsoft Office Suite with advanced Excel Skills including, but not limited to, experience with large databases, arrays, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc. required
• Microsoft Dynamics AX (ERP system) experience preferred
• Must possess strong analytical, communication, organizational, collaboration, and detail-orientated skills
• Must be able to work on a high performing team creating an environment where open and honest communication is the norm
• Must have ability to build effective workplace relationships within and outside of Finance & Accounting
