Arts and Science is seeking a talented Assistant Director to join the Office of Research. The Assistant Director manages pre-award activities of all grants and other sponsored research projects, including advising faculty and principal investigators on federal, state, University and School fiscal guidelines and requirements to ensure compliance. As a member of the Arts and Science Office of Research team (ASOR), the Pre-Award Grant Administrator provides support for facilitating and expediting the grant and contract application process, while working closely with faculty in developing grant proposals and ensuring compliance. The incumbent consults with faculty and PIs to write external grant proposals to federal, state, local government agencies and private foundations; consults with faculty to identify proposals that are defined as strategic priorities and that match faculty's research interests.

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Education:
Master's DegreeResearch Administrator (C.R.A.) Certification

Required Experience:
5+ years experience in a pre-award and/or sponsored research administration in a university setting, with a strong commitment to customer service. Experience with budget development.

Preferred Experience:
Experience with proposal submissions to federal funding agencies including the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health and the National Endowment for the Humanities strongly preferred in addition to private foundations. Experience with the Cayuse Research Suite.

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills, self-motivation, follow through, confidence, and flexibility required. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Excellent proofreading skills. Demonstrated time-management and detail-oriented skills. Demonstrated ability to interpret federal regulations, procedures and/or compliance standards. Knowledge of the regulatory environment affecting sponsored projects (e.g., Uniform Guidance) including research, technical assistance, professional development, consulting, etc.; the ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships with diverse groups of stakeholders including faculty, students, and department, school and university administrators. Good working knowledge of OMB circulars. Proficiency with MS Excel and Word.Qualifications
