The Opportunity:

The Assistant Director of Student Engagement for Fraternity and Sorority Life is part of the Department of Student Engagement at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Prescott. This position assists in the overall operations of Student Engagement, serving in a pivotal role for shaping the out of classroom learning experiences of students. The Assistant Director of Student Engagement for Fraternity and Sorority Life has primary oversight and responsibility for fraternity and sorority life and parent and family programs. The Assistant Director also serves in support capacity for transition programs, student organization policies and programming, leadership programs, and department assessment.

This is a full-time, twelve-month, exempt position.

60% Fraternity & Sorority Life (FSL)

  • Serve as the primary advisor for FSL governing councils (National Panhellenic Conference and the Interfraternity Council) and Order of Omega honor society.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all FSL chapters.
  • Meet with FSL leadership regularly to discuss fraternal values and organization goals.
  • Coordinate educational opportunities for the FSL community each semester; such as professional speakers, FSL Ed Talks, and new member orientation programs.
  • Oversee the FSL budget of around $12,000.
  • Assist with the recruitment and selection process of elected council and honor society officers.
  • Oversee the FSL membership recruitment process.
  • Assess FSL educational programs and operations for effectiveness, adjust as needed.
  • Monitor and assess chapter academic performance.
  • Promote opportunities for philanthropy and community service.
  • Work in collaboration with FSL community constituents such as advisors, headquarters representatives, parents, and University staff.
  • Produce yearly reports depicting operations and achievements in the FSL community.
  • Assist FSL councils with implementation of Greek Week and other programming.
  • Coordinate and oversee FSL student leadership awards.
  • Oversee the annual FSL Chapter Accreditation Program.
  • Serve as the campus expert on hazing and hazing prevention.

25% Parent/Family Programs

  • Oversee Parent/Family presentations at Orientation.
  • Serve as campus administrator for the Parent/Family website (Campus ESP).
  • Oversee Parent/Family events (e.g. annual Parent/Family Weekend)

10% Department Operations

  • Supervise one student assistant who supports departmental initiatives related to volunteerism.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting and purchasing.
  • Act as University conduct officer and help oversee with the RSO conduct process.
  • Work collaboratively on departmental programs and support initiatives including new student orientation, RSO officer orientation, leadership programs, and union operations.
  • Serve as a resource for students and campus partners on Eagle Life, SchedulER, and other event-planning software and procedures.

5% Additional Support to Campus

  • Serve as a campus-level administrator for Eagle Life (Campus Groups).
  • Represent the Department of Student Engagement on various University committees.
  • Clery Reporting requirements.
  • Title IX Reporting requirements.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least 2 years of professional experience advising student organizations on a college campus.
  • Experience with fraternities and/or sororities at the campus or national level.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced student oriented environment.
  • Ability to relate to and communicate clearly with students, faculty, staff, administration, and parents/family members.
  • Experience coordinating, planning, and implementing events.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, initiative, and teamwork.
  • Ability to work with a diverse student population and foster an inclusive community.
  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends when necessary on a flex schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration or similar concentration.
  • 3-5 years of professional experience advising student organizations on a college campus
  • Direct, campus-based experience working with IFC fraternities and/or NPC sororities.
  • Knowledge of best practices relating to risk management, recruitment, and community building.
  • Experience managing budgets.
  • Administrative experience with Campus Groups or other student organization management software systems.
  • Involvement with national or local professional student activities organizations(s),
