502216 - The Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life is an integral team member of the Student Engagement team within the Center for Student Involvement. The Assistant Director for Fraternity and Sorority Life will have primary oversight and support of Panhellenic (PHC) and Interfraternity (IFC) Councils and chapters, including leadership development, administrative operations, and liaise with (inter) national headquarters staff. Liaises closely with staff in the Student Center for Equity and Inclusion regarding National Panhellenic Council (NPHC) and chapters oversight.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Student Advising and Leadership Development:

  • Directly advises the IFC and PHC governing council, as well as the chapter leadership associated with those councils
  • Develop, implement, and assess a comprehensive leadership program for governing councils and chapter leadership
  • Closely collaborate with staff in the Student Center for Equity and Inclusion (SCEI) regarding NPHC council and chapters
  • Convene and lead the All-Greek Council and help to cultivate an overall sense of community
  • Assist and lead the community in developing a culture of incorporating inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility into the member experience
  • Develop, manage and coordinate administrative processes associated with daily operations, event registration, social media and marketing initiatives
FSL Program Management:
  • Provide leadership to IFC and PHC councils and chapters to ensure effective management of organization and their activities
  • Manage IFC and PHC membership recruitment and new member education processes
  • Develop, implement, and assess the Standards of Excellence (SOE) program for IFC, NPHC, and PHC chapters
  • Serves as the liaison to chapter national headquarters, alumni, parents, faculty, and administrative colleagues with regard to fraternity and sorority life
  • Execute extension/expansion efforts that are responsive to the needs of the campus and fraternity/sorority community
  • Work collaboratively with department colleagues and other partners to deliver trainings on philanthropy, sexual misconduct, risk and chapter management, and hazing prevention and alcohol misuse
Budget Management:
  • Manage budget and oversee dues/funding process for IFC, NPHC, and PHC chapters
  • Ensure fiscal stewardship, effective planning, effective use of resources, and compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies and procedures
Office related duties:
  • Serves as a WELL 100: Introduction to Collegiate Life instructor for one section per semester
  • Serves on a variety of university and divisional committees, as determined by the Associate Director for Student Engagement and Director of Student Involvement
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Director for Student Engagement
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of best practices in creating and delivering programs and services to undergraduate fraternity and/or sorority members
  • Student-centered approach to work and strong ability to work with historically underrepresented students
  • Understands the fundamentals to event and program planning
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, staff, students, parents, and external community partners
  • Collaborate, co-create, and build partnerships offices and students
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Current trends and legal issues within higher education, as well as fraternity and sorority life
  • Required: Must have a valid Driver's License and be able to produce a driving record with a minimum of 3 years of driving history in good standing
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in college student development, higher education administration, student affairs administration, student personnel, or health promotion preferred
  • 1-3 years of experience working within fraternity and sorority life at a campus or at a (inter)national organization is required
  • Membership in a National Pan-Hellenic Council, National Panhellenic Conference, North American Interfraternity Council, National Association of Latino Fraternal Organizations, National Asian Pacific American Panhellenic Association or related member organization is preferred
WORK HOURS:
  • Full-time, exempt position
  • Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; 7.75 hrs./day; 38.75 hrs./week
  • Working evenings and on weekends is a requirement of the position
SALARY STRUCTURE:
Pay Grade 6 (Hiring Range $44,775.00 to $59,325.00 annually)
