Job Description:

The Assistant Director for the Center for Student Success will assist and support the Director in the design and implementation of programming and student resources which positively impact institutional retention and student success. This leadership position will serve as a direct point of contact for students, providing academic support services and engaging students through a variety of activities that ensure progression toward graduation. The Assistant Director will possess knowledge of student development theories/practices and best practices related to student success, retention and persistence. Housed organizationally within the Center for Student Success (CSS), and under the supervision of the CSS Director, the Assistant Director will work collaboratively across the institution to develop relationships with students, faculty, and staff in order to continuously improve retention programs to support students. The Assistant Director will be a visionary leader, capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.


Education Required: Bachelor's Degree.

Experience Required: Experience working in higher education, post secondary and/or student services department.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Worker Characteristics:

  • Bachelor's degree in student development, psychology, education or related field.
  • Community college or higher education experience.
  • Ability to effectively establish and maintain working relationship with supervising personnel, coworkers, all constituents and the public.
  • Perform well under pressure, within time constraints, with a high degree of accuracy, diplomacy and confidentiality.
  • Ability to coordinate work flow while dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to present complex information and data in coherent fashion.
  • Must be able to travel between the college's two campuses and other sites.
  • Bilingual Skills.

Salary: Commensurate with experience. This is a 12 month, Staff & Chair Grade 50 position with a budgeted annual salary of $49,487 to $55,000.
