We have an excellent opportunity for a Architectural Design Support representative in our Mountaintop, PA facility.

Summary:

Drive demand for CornellCookson and Clopay products. Respond to web, email and phone call inquiries to provide design support for the architectural and design community, ensuring that the best solution is given to the architect. Obtain the maximum information on the project, complete drawings, specifications and facilitate obtaining the bid date so that we maximize our chances of bidding, winning and shipping the project.

 Responsibilities/Principal Duties:

  • Knowledge of commercial sectional & residential garage doors required. Must be able to speak to each doors components and installation requirements to provide design assistance to architects.
  • Reactively respond to architects. Provide design and technical support to architects and other design personnel, mainly during design phase, but could also be during construction. Ask pertinent questions and prescribe the best product for each application, using new products and unique options wherever possible. Reach out for help with other more experienced personnel where necessary. 

  • For each interaction, strive to provide a ‘design assist’ – a specification and detailed drawing to enable the architect to use on their project. Ensure that the specification is written so that CornellCookson’s products are difficult for competitors to bid. Aim for sole specification, basis of design, design listing in that order.

  • Record interactions with architects and designers in the CRM, design assists, construction projects, obtaining as much information as possible to facilitate getting a solid bid date. Record in CRM, and feed any outside information back to lead coordinator.

  • Continually improve product and application knowledge by consulting on projects with others in the group. Pass on more complex projects where identified and appropriate to more senior personnel.
  • Complete drafting/design work passed to the department from our Product Reps, Complete specifications and other design related inquiries where necessary.

Job Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Architectural Sales and Customer Service: Technical sales, architectural sales, customer service and sectional/garage door experience preferred. Respond appropriately to customers with a sense of urgency. Keep the customer fully informed on the progress. Ability to build rapport with customer, to ensure customer returns for the next project.

AutoCAD: Demonstrates a strong understanding of construction plans and ability to read blueprints. Proficient with AutoCAD.

 Communication/Cooperation: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills a must. Teamworking skills are essential – within the group and across all functions within the organization. Writing and speaking skills are important. High attention to detail and correctness is essential.

 Self-Aware and Thirst for Knowledge / Product and Construction Knowledge: Since the product is so technical and the applications so specific, an applicant must be self-aware on their product and application knowledge and balance seeking help when required vs finding a solution. Must be capable of proactively increasing their product and construction process knowledge.

 

Organizational Skills: Capable of managing multiple inquiries and design assists simultaneously using MS Outlook and CRM.



Qualified candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications:

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, related field, or equivalent experience
  • Solid drafting skills (AutoCAD) essential
  • Revit/BIM experience ideal, (release 2013 or later is essential).
  • Knowledge of CCC products, materials, fabrication processes and the Product Engineering process is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel etc.)
  • Knowledge of CRM systems an advantage.
