Architect - Life Sciences (North Carolina)

GBA's Architecture Group focuses on Life Sciences and Advanced Manufacturing spaces. We are seeking an architect who is highly motivated, goal oriented and can operate independently to manage multiple projects. Lab, Pharma, Hospital or technical architecture experience is preferred. We offer the opportunity to work on new and/or renovation projects from start to finish, seeing every phase of the project. Projects include providing design, construction documents, and construction administration on a variety of building types involving corporate office, pharmaceutical - clean rooms, R&D/QA labs, fleet maintenance, industrial and manufacturing spaces. This position will be located in our Cary, NC office.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage several projects and responsibilities simultaneously while maintaining awareness of scope, schedule, budget and status of all assigned projects
  • Participate in architectural studies, develop design concepts and design criteria, and prepare reports, calculations, detailed design and construction documents
  • Conduct preliminary field surveys, develop multiple design drafts, run through programming exercises, and build preliminary project plan options
  • Prepare detailed construction documents, review shop drawings, initiate and coordinate with engineers in support of projects
  • Collaborate with engineers, consultants, contractors and owners in a proactive, integrated project delivery process throughout all project phases including design, construction and post-occupancy to achieve client and project goals with a focus on client satisfaction and relationship development
  • Provide detailed meeting minutes, summarizing discussions and articulating concepts, both verbally and graphically
  • Contribute to the construction material selection process
  • Create and participate in presentations of plans and diagrams
  • Flexibility for non-traditional architecture tasks in support of client and group requirements
  • Develop and maintain client confidence in our staff and operations by maintaining a high level of professionalism, integrity, accountability, and performance

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Architecture from an accredited architecture program
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience required
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience preferred
  • Ability to assemble a full set of construction documents and details
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam, Revit, AutoCAD and MS Suite
  • Exceptional collaborator, ready to partner with a small team
  • Excellent verbal and graphic communication
  • Self-Starter and detail oriented with an ability to see overall scope of project
  • Strong presentation and graphic skills
