Description

Columbia Forest Products is looking for an experienced Human Resource Manager for the Presque Isle, Maine manufacturing facility. This is an opportunity to be an employee owner for the premier North American supplier of decorative hardwood veneer and plywood. Columbia is an environmentally sensitive industry innovator. The successful candidate should have 3 to 5 years human resource generalist experience in a manufacturing operation. The HR Manager will be responsible for recruitment, retention, employee relations, employee development, policy administration, worker's compensation, payroll processing, safety mindset, and project work. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager with an indirect reporting line to the Vice President of Human Resources and Development.

  • Responsible for the “People Value Stream” which includes recruiting, engaging, developing, and inspiring employee owners. FOCUS ON IMPROVING EMPLOYEE STABILITY.
  • Responsible for driving process improvement within the HR processes using the problem-solving principles of the Columbia Way
  • Creates and nurtures strong working relationships with all Employee groups
  • Ensures high level standard work is followed and improved upon for the following:
    • New hire orientation
    • Payroll processes
    • Benefits processes
    • Policy administration
  • Works effectively with other CFP locations in order to learn and share best practices across the company to continue building a culture that is our competitive advantage.
  • Facilitates and/or sets up facilitation of the Caring Team. Acts as an Ex-officio member.
  • DRIVES THE LEADERSHIP QUAL CARD PROCESS AS CFP STRIVES FOR LEADERSHIP EXCELLENCE AT ALL LEVELS
  • UPDATES AND MAINTAINS TRAINING/DEVELOPMENT RECORDS FOR EMPLOYEES RELATED TO SAFETY, REQUIRED TRAINING, AND POLICY UPDATES.
  • WORKS AS A COACH AND RESOURCE FOR JOB RELATIONS COUNSELING AND MEDIATION REGARDING PERFORMANCE MGT
  • CHAMPIONS EFFORTS FOR DIVERSITY AND INCLUSION SO THAT ALL EMPLOYEE OWNERS HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO BELONG
  • PARTICIPATES IN DAILY MANAGEMENT SYSTEM WALK AT LEAST ONCE PER WEEK
  • SERVANT LEADER AND MANAGER TO HR STAFF
  • Responsible for coordinating worker’s comp processes and interaction with CFP CORPORATE
  • OTHER PROJECTS AS DEEMED NECESSARY TO MEET CFP’S MISSION/PURPOSE
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

4 year degree and 5 years’ experience in Human Resources preferred.
