We are looking for an energetic applications laboratory analyst for our Westborough, MA facility. The lab analyst will perform measurements and assist with experiments using cutting edge technology from nearly all of Malvern Panalytical's portfolio. Working to support a diverse nationwide team of scientists, you will encounter sample types and analytical problems from a wide variety of industries such as cements, catalysts, battery materials, metal powders, fuels, foods, pharmaceuticals and many more. What are your responsibilities?

  • Prepare samples for measurement in all lab systems using defined SOP's.
  • Complete measurements on customer samples as prescribed by lab and field scientists.
  • Report results to scientists and transmit raw data where necessary
  • Assist scientists in experiments, demonstrations, and other live events
  • Assist in sample analysis as requested by scientists
  • Prepare instrumentation - configure hardware to specifications, perform standard checks and report serviceable issues to lab coordinator.
  • Prepare IT and AV equipment for remote instrument access according to scheduled activities.
  • Prepare IT and AV equipment for remote diagnostics on demand.
  • Maintain COSHH chemical safety database
  • Maintain lab 6S standards
  • Perform regular in-house validation testing of all instruments and accessories at scheduled intervals
  • Update records in CRM software as needed
  • Follow company values "Aim High", "Own it" and "Be True"
  • Ensure all H&S policies are respected
  • Ensure that Code of Business Ethics requirements are met
  • To respect and enforce all generic company processes and procedures
  • Ensure that the Applications Laboratories adhere to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards, and support the Q3HSE to maintain these standards.
What do you need to be successful in this role?

  • Associates degree or diploma in applied science or related field
  • 1-3 years' experience in similar lab-based role.
  • HS&E: Experience reviewing SDS forms and assessment of risk, handling chemicals and waste, cleaning spills.
  • Detail oriented: follow instructions carefully and document results accurately
  • Emotional Intelligence: Works well with others
  • Solid analytical skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong computer skills, literate in O365 products.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Ability to operate electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment
  • Comfortable handling potentially dangerous substances, such as flammable liquids
  • Good degree of independence and drive
Great to have?

  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, physics, or relevant field preferred
  • SAP and/or Salesforce Lightning experience preferred
  • Good report writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience with Malvern Panalytical technologies, such as laser diffraction, dynamic light scattering, x-ray fluorescence and x-ray diffraction.
