The Role

The Lumen Analyst II role within Network Maintenance Analytics will conduct audits, evaluate vendor performance through data analysis, and support multiple data driven cost reduction initiatives. The position will be responsible for extracting and transforming data from various sources with an objective of assembling reports and producing dashboards to provide actionable business insights and drive decisions. The position will also require detailed data analyses and interpretation involving forecasting and modeling techniques, as well as determining the causes of outliers and identifying trends.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Analyze data, identifies several different solutions along with pros and cons with respect to impact on the business
  • Provides information that supports strategic decision-making by others for the functional business area 
  • Conducts audits of invoices and identifies billing discrepancies
  • Extracts and integrates data through querying databases using SQL
  • Transforms data through cleaning, encoding, joining, aggregating, pivoting, and sorting techniques
  • Validates data through comparisons and verifications of consistency 
  • Produces ad hoc and recurring reports to communicate information to business partners
  • Analyzes and interprets data resulting in the identification of opportunities, solutions, and trends that can positively impact the business
  • Applies simple forecasting analysis (i.e. moving average, exponential smoothing, naïve, etc.) to data
  • Answers business questions through data analytics
  • Presents information to business partners and leadership that drives organizational goals and supports strategic decision-making
  • Provides recommendations based of analysis and domain knowledge to business partners and leadership to assist in decisions
  • Synthesizes findings through presentations and visualizations to business partners and leadership

What We Look For in a Candidate

  • 2+ years related experience with bachelor’s degree
  • 1+ years related experience with master’s degree
  • Experience in data analysis and reporting, as well as analyzing results and providing insights
  • Experience in presenting data analysis results to leadership
  • Basic understanding of accounting/financial practices
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and SQL (PL/SQL and T-SQL)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Power BI
  • Familiarity with Tableau Desktop
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, quickly pivot between tasks, take initiative, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be very detail-oriented and demonstrate a high degree of accuracy
  • Possess an accountable, collaborative, creative, curious, innovative, organized, results-oriented, and self-motivated mindset
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and quantitative skills
  • Team player with a positive attitude
  • Verbal and written communication skills in translating complex concepts and appropriate for leadership 

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Familiarity with telecommunications
  • Knowledgeable in Python or R programming languages
