Overview

The Agile Coach will work closely with other coaches, delivery teams, Centers of Excellence, and the PMO in driving an agile transformation within AmTrust. You will contribute in every stage of adoption and help consult at all levels of the organization, assess business units, provide a plan and lead a transformation from how the groups currently work into an agile approach. You will help people rethink and change the way they go about product management and development through continual coaching and mentoring.

Our goal is to help improve the current workflow within teams and overall project management by increasing collaboration, innovation, and introducing techniques that promote adaptability and flexibility not just in the short-term, but also providing a larger scale plan and governance for sustainability well into the future.

Responsibilities

  1. Educate employees at all levels on agile principles, guiding them with best practices for implementing the process in their own work
  2. Provide training, mentoring/coaching valuable skills that lead toward the organization-wide transformation
  3. Provide hands on support to all employees, collaborating with people across widely varying levels and roles, leading them through inspection and adaptation toward further understanding and adoption of agile principles
  4. Use techniques that increase collaboration, predictability, transparency and promote a culture of experimentation and innovation
  5. Help identify and remove impediments within the levels of the organization
  6. Work with other coaches in reviewing our organizational health and how we can continue to mature as an agile organization
  7. Coordinate and contribute in the development of CoEs and CoPs and ensuring transparency, understanding, and consistency of the adopted processes


Qualifications

  • Basic knowledge of software development processes and procedures
  • Understands the fundamentals of iterative and incremental development
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of and background with agile concepts
  • Enthusiastic and knowledgeable about agile processes, practices, and their benefits
  • Possess great interpersonal skills, teaching abilities, and a capacity to inspire and motivate
  • Prior experience leading teams through an agile transformation or being a member of a team that has gone through this
  • Ability to travel as needed (including local office)


Required:
  • Excellent communication skills; including verbal, written, and presentation skills
  • Proficiency in agile concepts
  • Core IT competencies (i.e. knowledge of systems development lifecycle and methodologies)
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivating
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Enthusiasm to learn and demonstrated team work
  • Stress tolerance


Preferred:
  • Experience in working through an agile transformation within a large company and with distributed teams
  • Knowledge of various Agile or Lean frameworks
  • Agile Certifications (Certified/Professional SCRUM Master, ACP, Professional SCRUM Product Owner, etc.)
  • Experience with training or coaching
  • Knowledge of Work Management tools such as Azure DevOps
  • Involvement within DevOps/Continuous Integration
