Position Overview

Are you passionate about home appliances, housewares and/or home textiles? Do you have an opinion on which companies are doing things right and which companies could be doing things better? The Home business at NPD works with some of the most well-known and exciting companies in the world, and our team is seeking an Account Manager in Client Development.

This team member will be responsible for providing insights to our clients and driving revenue within our accounts, and should have a strong background in client management, and retail analytics.

This position will be based in downtown Chicago, Rosemont, IL or Port Washington, NY

Overall Responsibilities:

Account & Business Management

  • Achieve/grow planned revenue targets for assigned clients.
  • Develop and execute account plans for client portfolio; understand the client's organization; their internal objectives and planned use of NPD data to meet those objectives.
  • Navigate the NPD organization by collaborating with cross-functional colleagues to leverage their expertise while providing the customer perspective


Industry Expertise & Client Development
  • Become a trusted advisor with client contacts and an expert in client business initiatives and strategies
  • Develop home business industry expertise by providing insights derived from POS and Consumer data, in addition to collecting and reporting relevant external data (i.e. census bureau statistics, new home sales etc.) to support client engagement.
  • Prepare issue-based data analyses and present findings/recommendations to clients-a strong interest/ability in analytics and business math a plus.
  • Understand retail trends, both in store and online, as it relates to merchandising, promotional activities, and category/brand placement. Work with Industry Advisor to recognize important trends that will affect clients. Communicates those trends so clients can better prepare to meet new challenges


Leadership
  • Confidently manage direct reports, overseeing their portfolios, performance and professional development
  • Support the team in managing the day-to-day relationships with clients: Develop knowledge of the client's industries. Build strong, long-term relationships with existing client contacts and establish new relationships within those organizations.


Competencies/Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Market Research, consumer insights, account management, or category management .
  • Demonstrated ability to work with POS/consumer panel data to generate impactful and engaging analyses and presentations to address business problems/questions.
  • Strong analysis and writing ability - digests diverse data sets into cohesive and succinct stories.
  • Attention to detail, ability to manage multiple client, projects, and requests
  • Knowledge of consultative selling techniques. Highly organized and detailed oriented, and a problem solver.
  • Proactive and collaborative work style
  • Confident and polished when interacting with all levels, both internal and client-facing.
  • Expert in all MS Office products, Excel, PowerPoint, & Word.
  • Ability to travel (in future-typically 10% - 15%)
  • BA/BS or equivalent. Market research, economics, statistics, or marketing background preferred
