Summary:

The Hershey Company Lancaster plant is a Non-Union plant producing Licorice Products such as Twizzlers, Nibs, and Pull & Peel, in a high-speed complex environment.

When Electrical systems break down Industrial Electricians are responsible for trouble shooting and fixing the problem. This position requires Industrial Electrical/PLC experience in the food Industry with the knowledge of motors, industrial wiring, electro-mechanical drives, PLC applications and hardware and servo applications.

This position also requires excellent trouble shooting and communication skills as well as the ability to effectively participate in a team-oriented work environment.

There are 2 current 2nd shift openings

  • Sunday through Thursday - 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday through Saturday - 2:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Full Benefit package for employee and eligible dependents available first day of employment. Hourly rate of pay: $32.69.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
  • Utilize problem solving techniques while interacting with other employees in resolving issues
  • Advise Management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
  • Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, understand and help maintain work orders, preventative maintenance system and in SAP
  • Learning new technologies as they apply
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Program VFD's.
  • Read, diagnose, and program ladder logic using RSLogix
  • Enter notifications and/or follow up with required work
  • Work on belts, drives, gearboxes, and conveyors
  • Perform work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures
  • Investigate and offer improvements to our plant operation
  • Perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
  • Follow all safety requirements including but not limited to Adhere to SDS (Safety Data Sheet), LOTO, Confined Space, Fall protection, Electrical Flash etc.
  • Follow all Food Manufacturing rules and regulations including but not limited to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP's) and Safe Quality Foods (SQF).
  • Demonstrate Hershey values
  • Use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
  • Maintain Good Housekeeping skills

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

  • Must understand all lockout procedures
  • Successfully complete all safety required training
  • Pass the Nocti Electrical and Hands Testing
  • Basic computer skills
  • Must be able to perform basic math calculations
  • Must have good command of the English language both written and spoken

Desired but not required:

  • Experience with Motoman & ABB Robots
  • Experience with Panelview and Factory Talk
  • Experience with Predictive Technologies including Thermal Imaging
  • Experience with Rockwell Automation

Physical Demand

  • Use of hands, wrists, elbows to use hands tools to do electrical repairs
  • Ability to walk within Plant Manufacturing facility to trouble shoot and perform electrical repairs
  • Bend, squat, reach to perform electrical repairs
  • Visual acuity to identify electrical color-coded materials
  • Climb ladders, use lifts to reach above head electrical repairs
  • Lift up to 50 lbs.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Electrician experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
  • Food manufacturing experience is a plus.
  • Qualified candidates will be considered for interview and if successful must pass Nocti written and hands on testing to be considered for employment.
