Overview:

The Department of Strategic Communication in the School of Communications at Quinnipiac University is seeking a tenure-track open-rank faculty member in the Advertising and Integrated Communications program. Advertising and Integrated Communications is a growing degree program integrating the skills and knowledge of advertising, design, and content creation. The department seeks a colleague to teach courses in social media strategy and analytics as well as advertising and content creation. The position starts August 2023.

We balance hands-on skills training with instruction in the liberal arts to prepare students for exciting and rewarding careers in advertising and integrated communications; communications/media studies; film, television and media arts; graphic and interactive design; journalism; and public relations. Responsibilities:

  • Ability to effectively teach in the areas of Advertising and Integrated Communications at the undergraduate and master's level
  • Able to teach creative and experiential courses such as Strategies for Social Media, Social and Mobile Media, Media Systems and Planning, Social Media Analytics, Branding Strategies and Integrated Advertising Campaigns
  • Perform service for the school and university, as well as advise undergraduate majors
  • Conduct research and/or partake in substantive creative/professional work as outlined in the faculty handbook

Education Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in Communications, or a related field is strongly preferred

    • Advanced ABDs who have a confirmed defense date prior to August 15, 2023 will be considered

Qualifications:

  • Evidence of dynamic teaching, relevant scholarly activity, and a commitment to student success
  • Previous teaching and significant professional experience in advertising are preferred

  • Strong communication skills and interpersonal skills

  • Demonstrated commitment and the ability to contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community, the department, and the School of Communications
