Position Summary

Carlyle Credit Opportunities strategy resides within Global Credit and is currently investing out of its third flagship vintage investment vehicle. The team actively manages $13 billion of invested capital across 80+ portfolio companies globally. The CCOF team invests primarily in highly-structured and privately-negotiated capital solutions supporting corporate borrowers through secured loans, senior subordinated debt, mezzanine debt, convertible notes, and other debt-like instruments, as well as preferred and common equity in such borrowers. The team also invests in special situations and event-driven opportunities that exhibit hybrid credit and equity features. CCOF takes advantage of market dislocations that arise as a result of temporary market volatility, investing in primary and secondary markets using liquid debt instruments.

The team consists of 35 investment professionals across New York and London.

Responsibilities

The Associate role will be within the Carlyle Credit Opportunities Fund ("CCOF"), the flexible credit investing segment within Global Credit. Associates are expected to integrate and work with their team to develop skills and the ability to identify opportunities and manage relationships. They are expected to, as part of a team and with guidance, evaluate the business and industry as well as identify the economic attractiveness; work on evaluation of potential deals and become very familiar with developing capital structure and understanding the levers for value creation. Associates will develop their deal structuring skills to include management of the due diligence process, deal and credit structuring and negotiation skills, as well monitoring of the portfolio companies.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience within Investment Banking, Private Credit and/or Private Equity
  • Advanced corporate finance skills, including detailed, bottoms-up financial modelling and valuation assessment
  • Bachelor's Degree and GPA of 3.5 or above
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to be a team player; we put emphasis on teamwork and building a strong culture
  • Familiarity with credit documentation and structuring aspects of transactions
  • Self-starter; confidence in asking questions, ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, and takes initiative to drive projects forward
  • Solid organizational skills, high attention to detail and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to juggle multiple workstreams and manage deadlines in a fast paced market-driven environment
  • Passion for investing in both private and public markets, intellectual curiosity and willingness to learn

Benefits/Compensation

The compensation range for this role is specific to New York, NY and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.

The anticipated base salary range for this role is $150,000.

Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
